ANN IMPORTANT ANNIVERSARY--KERR, WYLLIE, CURRIE 1972 (50 YEARS!)
in August, 1972, John Kerr, Andrew Wyllie, and Alastair Currie published a review entitled Apoptosis: A basic biological phenomenon with wide-ranging phenomenon with important implications in tissue kinetics. This classic paper, the first public use of the term “apoptosis,” remains highly readable and relevant today, and is recommended reading for all students and researchers in the field. It is publicly available through PubMed Central and has been long available on this website under “Classic Papers”. The direct link is Wyllie_Kerr_Currie.pdf (celldeath-apoptosis.org)

3rd Cell Death, Cell Stress & Metabolism Conference Impact on Inflammation, Immunity & Disease
May 7-10, 2022, Riviera Maya, Mexico
https://www.fusion-conferences.com/conference/135 student discounts available
Synopsis
We understand that registering for a conference is not essential right now. Many researchers will be unable to register for a future conference of interest if their university or lab is temporarily closed or preventing travel. Therefore, you can simply register your interest here without committing to attending, and our team will keep you updated regarding deadline reminders and grant opportunities. We hope this service is helpful during this difficult time.
The interplay between cell death, cell stress and metabolism is crucial for sensing danger posed by pathogens but also in the response to pathogen-independent tissue damage. These processes are almost invariably associated with inflammation which can result in several different outcomes: (i) induction of an effective immune response to the infective agent; (ii) increased tissue damage; and (iii) and the immunological response that is mounted to response to them. At this conference we will discuss the basic biological principles that govern cell death, cell stress and metabolism. We will also cover how cellular stress and alterations in metabolism influence the cellular death programs such as apoptosis, necroptosis, ferroptosis and others. Importantly, this conference aims to become the go-to forum at which the most current and up-to-date therapeutic avenues in the fields of cell death, cell stress and metabolism will be presented and discussed.
